Ava & Viv

I was recently at Target and I browsed their minuscule plus size section thinking that I would see nothing great when I stumbled upon Ava & Viv. Apparently, this is a new line made by Target for the "fashionable plus-sized woman." Apparently, I'm a little hyper-sensitive about categorizing plus-sized women, because I was almost instantly turned off until, as I was walking out, I spotted one of my staples: the basic-tee.

I'm not going to lie, after doing some research and checking out the rest of the Ava & Viv, I'm a little in love. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and I was absolutely astonished by the absolutely beautiful plus-sized models they chose to show it. You can view the press release here. Below you'll find a couple of my favorites...

First of all, I must confess: Until recently, I hated the idea of a jumpsuit, but I can say, with 100% certainty that I will be purchasing this black one. This would be a great piece to wear on a casual night out.

The floral print palazzo pant is a guilty pleasure of mine. While I can not successfully pull this off, because of my lack of hips or butt, I think ladies of all sizes look fantastic in something like these!

Let's talk about the black and white ankle pants. This is fantastic for someone like me. I love to have a pop of funky but work in a hyper-stodgy place so these present a happy compromise!

And lastly, I'm going to draw your attention to the cardigan and the basic tee. Living in Southern California means you either live in the desert or you're coastal. I live in the desert and man does it get cold at night. Well, I mean, relatively cold, for Southern California (in the 40's). So, being able to layer up at night is a big deal. Pairing the basic tee and the cardigan together is essentially what I wear, always.

If you find yourself wondering through Target, be sure to check out the selection they've got. The plus sized section is still horridly small, but I think you'll find that the Ava and Viv items are pretty fantastic.
