This month's Birchbox was curated by Cupcakes and Cashmere which is one of those things that I thought I had possibly heard of, but wasn't really sure until I googled and saw that yes, I had definitely visited her blog once or twice before :-)
While I was definitely a fan of the Cupcakes and Cashmere theme, and her recipe for Lainguini Al'Arrabiata, this box was almost a miss for me.
So, what saved it you ask?
Allow me to introduce you to the Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer and Lollibalm by Benefit.
This moisturizer. This. It's got the most delightful creamy texture and the smell? Oh! The smell! It's just heavenly. I have oily skin on my face but my neck is relatively dry. Using this on both areas was a dream. A DREAM I TELL YOU. It left my skin hydrated, not oily, AND, it absorbs at warp-speed. The Lollibalm I thought was just going to be another tinted lip balm, however, I was wrong. It's not just another tinted lip balm...it's THE tinted lip balm. It goes on smooth, has a nice shine, does it's moisturizing thing, and is a lovely shade of pink. Well done Benefit, well done.
The other products, I'm not so in love with. The English Laundry Notting Hill Femme perfume was not my favorite scent. It was very strong at first and then didn't mix with my natural scent well at all. While I'm a fan of the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle the body wash was just so-so. It was a nice body was, and had a lovely smell. But it wasn't anything to write home about...or blog about as it were. Finally, my least favorite product: PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray. Oh Jeff. Jeff.
Ok wait, I feel like I need to explain myself a bit before I come out and say this stuff was rubbish. It really wasn't but here's the deal. I have stick straight, ultra-fine hair. I think we spoke about this in last month's post here. Well, surprise, it hasn't changed. And to top it off, I'm hyper-critical of anything with the words 'sea salt' or 'tousling' spray simply because I have found a total of 2 that actually do what they said they were going to do for my hair. This particular brand of 'beach waves in a bottle' actually does a great job moisturizing. The only problem with that?
When my hair gets moisturized, it does what it always does....nothing. I really want someone with super thick hair to try this and see what it does, cause I think it might be awesome. So, if you have super thick hair and loved this stuff, leave me a comment below. But for me, it just missed.
That concludes this month's Birchbox, stay tuned for...
WAIT! I forgot to tell you!
My husband just signed up for Birchbox Man and his box should be coming soon! I'll be doing another post with his reviews and a few added bits from me! So stay tuned for that.
Ok, so I signed my husband up for Birchbox Man...whatever.
