When Your Skin Mutiny's

Lately, I've been having a bit of a skin problem. I normally have semi-sensitive skin and patches of eczema on my torso and scalp but recently it's been so much worse.

Not only has the eczema acted up but I spotted a small spot on my declitage area and I've had a few rashes on my shoulders and neck as well. Finally, the straw that broke the camels back was when I had an allergic reaction to eyeshadow that I had previously used at least twice with no issues whatsoever. It was terrible, my eyes were itchy, puffy, and watery for nearly the entire day even after I removed the eyeshadow.

What gives skin!?

So, to combat this new-found sensitivity, I've been on a quest to find the right products to help me out in the morning, evening, and throughout the day.

The first of which was recommended to me by one of my favorite people, my cousin Penny. She shot me a text message and asked whether I had used the new Nivea In-Shower Lotion yet and what I thought. I told her I hadn't but was interested. She explained that she had been suffering from dry skin, gave the lotion a whirl, and liked it enough to tell me to try it out. So, the next time I went to target, I picked it up and let me tell you something: it's awesome.

The next thing I've tried is not necessarily a new product but I've changed how I use it. The Elemis Skin Nourishing Milk Bath has been a staple in my skin care routine for years but I've only ever used it for occassional issues or spot treatments. Lately, I've taken to applying this over my whole body before bed to help add some much needed moisture.

I've changed my body wash as well. In the past I've not really cared what I used but with this new skin plight I've taken more of an interest in what I'm using. The Aveeno Daily Moisturzing Body Wash has definitely helped with some of the issue. It keeps my skin clean and it definitely feels more fresh for longer than my previous body washes.

For my face, I've really focused on getting good products and using all natural ingredients. I'm a huge fan of the Cream & Noir Deep Clean Charcoal Natural Soap w/No Chemicals as a morning cleanser. I follow that up with a new addition which is the Noabay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer. I just got this from my Birchbox and have been loving it. I sort of gush over it in my Birchbox reveal post (here) so I'm not going to take a lot of time with it here, just know it's awesome.  At night, I use the Boots Expert Sensitive Cleansing and Toning Wipes and the No.7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advances Serum. Both items are from Boots and both do not disappoint.

Since beginning this skin care regime, I've noticed a large difference in the overall moisture content of my skin and the rashes, bumps, spots, eczema, and random ailments have ceased as well. Sometimes, your skin just screams! "HEY! I NEED A BREAK!" And that's what I think was happening there. Always make sure you're listening to your body.
