Friday Faves/H54F No. 9

It's a short week everyone! Go now! Get to the beach and enjoy yourself! As you're reading this, I will be on a plane to Southern MO where I intend to spend my 4th of July with family I haven't seen in a long, long time.

In short, the next two Friday Faves/H54F have been written pretty far in advance, so I just picked a category and listed out my Top 5 of each! Enjoy and I'll see you soon!

Favorite Ways to Reduce Stress!


FINDING YOUR HAPPY PLACE / MEDITATION / PRAYER

Forgive the long categorical title, but for me, all of these things go together. I find that when I finally find a place to sit still and breathe, I tend to do a little meditation, and a lot of prayer. After I'm done, boom! I've got the perspective I needed and I'm able to cope with the stress of day to day life. I try to do this for at least five minutes, everyday.  Operative word: try.


SINGING





Singing was basically my life for a long, long time. Whenever I need to escape reality, it's to the music I go. I crank up my radio, hold up that hair brush, and sing my way through my bedroom like Beyonce. I'm not going to lie, it's the silliest most effective way to stop worrying, and just have fun.



DRINK A PIÑA COLADA

Now, this is in no way saying that you should drink your problems away, although, lets face it, sometimes that seems like a better idea than it is....however, I am saying, indulging in a sugar filled, alcoholic drink of awesome doesn't hurt. I love piña colada's. I just do. They help me remember all the fun I had with Brian on our honeymoon and all the times I've tried and failed to make one "just like they did that one time." There is a psychological reason behind why drinking/eating/wearing something while you were having fun helps you to have fun once again, but I'll not get into it. For now, just indulge in a little something. 


YOGA

 Everyone knows the benefits of yoga so, I'm not here to tell you anything new. I love doing yoga. I really do. If you've never done yoga, or are intimidated by yoga, or just don't want to go to the gym to do yoga, there are plenty of amazing yoga apps and youtube video's out there. My favorites are YogaStudio (available on the app store) or YogabyCandice.com because she's amazing and shares my name.


HUGS



Currently, I'm reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Ruben and it's really great. In it, she gives us a one-liner about hugs that blew me away. She said that (and I'm paraphasing) it takes about six seconds of hugging to trigger endorphin's. Boom! Tell me you're as excited about that fact that I am! No? Ok, I know I'm a geek, but seriously, just find somebody you love and give them a hug (for six seconds) and you'll instantly feel better.
