Growing up, fitness was a the biggest juxtaposition ever in our household. It was held in high regard, but no one really did anything about it. We all just knew we had to be better than the other guy, and since most of us have some natural talent with sports it was never that hard to achieve. As shallow as that sounds, it's just the way it was.
Now that we're all a bit older, my parents included, we understand the importance of fitness and nutrition. Most of us have been working towards a healthier version of us and for me it started about a three years ago when I started attending therapy for some unresolved issues. It then lead to paying attention to the types of food I was putting in my body, cut back on alcohol consumption and just this year became pill-free (I was on an anti-d for about 5 years).
Fast forward to now: It's time to add a fitness regime. Yoga has been a part of my life for a few years now (off and on) and when I saw Vivianna Does Makeup's post about 30 Days of Yoga with Yoga with Adriene it stuck with me.
I tried out a basic routine before committing to 30 days and absolutely loved her. She's a total crack up and I love that she enables the person to do what they can, not what they think they should be doing. Does that make sense? So today, I started my 30 Days of Yoga and while today was definitely difficult (my abs hurt already) it was also fantastic. The thing that sticks out the most? The fact that I have surprised myself both times I've done a routine with her bodes well for me.
Anyways, I'll check in from time to time, and let you know how I'm doing. In the meantime, check it out and if feel inspired, join me! Shoot me a tweet and let me know (@cwhitney88)!
