Long lasting lip wear is all the rage right now, and if you've tried it, you know that it can be very, very drying on the lips. I'm all about the long last lip (as you're about to find out in future posts) but it's very important to make sure you're taking care of your lips.
STEP ONE: REMOVE
Remove your long lasting lip wear every night. I'm sure we all remove our makeup and wash our face every night, right? Well, getting the last remnants of that long wear lip product is just as important. These are not pictured above because I'm currently out, but typically I like to use Dickinson's Witch Hazel Makeup Removing Wipes. They are pretty fantastic and the Witch Hazel does wonders for your skin.
STEP TWO: EXFOLIATE
Much like your skin, the lips need to be exfoliated regularly and this becomes increasingly important when you wear any lip product. A drying lip product makes it even more important. The ELF Lip Exfoliator is $3 dollars and leaves your lips nice and soft.
STEP THREE: LIP BALM
Apply your lip balm every night before bed for some added hydration. This is really the most important step. I prefer the Eos Sweet Mint Lip Balm but you can get any of your favorite.
STEP FOUR: TAKE A BREAK
Ladies, that lip color is amaze. But give a rest once in a while. Put on a lip product that is more of a tinted lip balm. I love the Maybelline Baby Lips. It comes in lots of colors, is a lip balm, and if you've got a teenager in the house get them to use this. It's a great makeup starter for the 14 year old who insists that makeup is the only thing she requires.
