Tips & Tricks: Online Shopping

Good morning all! I didn't have a very eventful weekend, so instead we're going to be starting a new blog series! I hope all you mom's out there had a great Mother's Day!

Hi there! Welcome to a little series I'm going to do called 'Tips & Tricks'. I find that a lot of my friends and family come to me for advice on random things. Usually it's about beauty products, or fashion, but there's other things too like, how do I spend so little on groceries (without couponing) or how do I find the best deals... I dawned on me that it might be time to impart a little bit of my wisdom (aka trickery) on to you my lovely readers. So, sit back, relax, and check out my favorite tips and tricks to online shopping.

First and foremost, you want to make sure that the website you're buying from is a reputable company. You can verify this by clicking their about section and reading about the company, and (one of my favorite methods) is looking to see if they accept Paypal and are registered with the BBB. When in doubt, Paypal is a great way to protect yourself. They have things like buyer protection and they don't release your information to the merchandiser.

Let's get down to brass tacks. Seriously. Who would pay full price for an item when they have the potential to buy it at a discount. Online shopping is a great way to save some serious cash. RetailMeNot.com is a great way to make sure you're not missing out on the current sales. If you're not familiar, this website compiles all the current coupons and discount codes available for basically any online store.

Another great way to save some cash while shopping online is to sign up for your favorite stores email lists. A word of caution: There is no better enabler than an email that says '30% off TODAY ONLY' to your favorite overpriced store (like Coach or Kate Spade).

I've been using ebates.com for a very long time. Not only do they have exclusive deals, but by shopping through their website you earn a percentage back on your purchases. Most are around 2-5% but some are upwards of 8% back. Like Sephora. You get 8% back on your purchases from Sephora. Ladies. When you're like me and spend at minimum $75 every time you shop that $6 back in your pocket. They deposit the money quarterly into your Paypal account. Sign up for your ebates account here

I kind of stumbled on this particular tip by accident. When you're shopping and you leave things in your cart, nine times out of ten, they'll shoot you an email with a discount code. I left a couple sunglasses in my cart at Windsor and they sent me the above email for 5% off. Pretty cool, right?

Here are my favorite online stores (some of these have brick and mortar counterparts):

Shoes | 6pm
Furniture | Wayfair
Linens and Sundries | Overstock
Clothes  | Boohoo
Clothes  | JCrew Factory
Clothes  | Asos
Clothes  | River Island
Beauty  | Sephora
Beauty  | Beautylish
Beauty  | Ulta
Beauty  | ColourPop
Everything | Amazon
Home Decor  | Rifle Paper Co
Home Decor  | Minted

I hope you enjoy this! Do you have any tips for online shopping? I'd love to hear about them!
