Prepping for Halloween | Party Food

Halloween is rapidly approaching and for those of you hosting or bringing a dish to a Halloween party, I've collected some of the creepiest looking Halloween recipes for the season.

Kitty Litter Cake. This is a personal favorite for me, and everyone gets grossed out by it. It's basically a super moist cake, with melted tootsie rolls on top to look like cat droppings. You bake it in a 9x13 baking dish and serve with a kitty litter scoop. Obviously one that you've purchased new, not one you've had laying around. Check out the recipe here.

Bloody Shirley Temples. This is the cutest thing. I love the idea of putting the grenadine in syringes rather than pre-mixing it. Not only are Shirley Temple's one of my favorite drinks regardless of Halloween, but this creepy spin makes it great for Halloween. Recipe here.

Creepy Critter Cheesecake. Cheesecake is always a good idea and Halloween is no exception. This recipe from Country Living intermixes some gross factor as well with little critters crawling all over the cheesecake. If you're like me, and you've got a serious problem with rats/mice, this is a perfect way to add some creepiness to Halloween night. Recipe here.

Ladies' Fingers and Men's Toes. Martha Stewart is the queen of Halloween. Anyone who's ever seen one of her Halloween special magazines knows this so it shouldn't be a surprise that she's got a super creepy recipe. Basically, these are breadsticks that are shaped like fingers with almond slivers as nails. Totally gross. Totally awesome. Recipe here.

Rice Krispy Treat Brains. BRRAIIINNNS! These are totally gross and are great for any zombie filled occassion (like a pub crawl snack) and Halloween. These are rice krispy treats, that just add red icing for extra creepiness. Check out the recipe here although I think you can probably just get creative with this one.
